Can You See Me?

Well one thing is for sure...it will be easy to spot Marmot athletes on the hill this year!! In this picture I am wearing Marmot's Women's Dawn Patrol Jacket and the Women's Freerider Pant, both in Acid Yellow. This would definitely be the outfit to wear on HUGE POWDER DAYS!! Not only will I be easy to spot, as you can see in the picture below the pants zip into the jacket to create a seemingly awesome onesie. This new zip-in feature from Marmot might be the greatest thing since sliced bread! No more powder down my pants!!!!!!!

Check out that view!!!

So the skiing isn't too bad, but not quite stellar. Looks like we're in another little dry patch, hopefully more snow soon! Even though this winter hasn't been the ultimate snow year just yet, I've still had plenty of fun and a few powder days as well!

This morning was so gorgeous out I decided to go for a skin up the mountain. Right now the backcountry conditions are pretty dangerous. With such an unstable snowpack, I'm playiong it safe for now. I snapped a few pics of the view from the top. I spy some lines I'd love to ski!

I LOVE SKIING!!!!!!!!!

January 19, 2012

Rest in Peace....

It's yet another sad day in the skiing community. Freeskier Sarah Burke succumbed to injuries sustained in a skiing accident early this month. I don't want to count the number of skiers I know who have passed on. Yes, they are in a better place. Yes, they died doing what they love. But it is so hard to deal with the loss of a fellow athlete. Is our sport becoming to dangerous? Should skiers limit the level of progression? I love skiing more than anything in the world, but with recent deaths, such thoughts of the danger constantly pass through my mind. I don't want them to hold me back, I wish I could filter them out. I wish we were all indestructible. But the reality is as skiers we are living on edge, every turn we make, whether we realize it or not. No I will never give up skiing, I will never stop what I love most. But I cannot deny I have fear, the question is will fear hold me back or is fear setting safer boundaries?

Rest In Peace Sarah.
