Westward Bound

Last week I packed up my car with my life, which is composed mostly of ski gear, and headed west. After a long drive I arrived in my heaven on earth…Aspen, Colorado! Welcomed by some fresh powder, I was anxious to get back on skis. The mountains weren’t officially open yet, and I was ready to earn my turns. And of course powder is always better when you work for it! That first run I took down Snowmass, an enormous smile spread across my face…pure bliss.

Aspen and Snowmass officially opened on Thanksgiving Day. With hardly anyone on the mountain and a foot of powder, I’m pretty sure it was my best Thanksgiving ever!! However much to my dismay on Tuesday I had to fly back to Vermont. I have to fufill my academic duties and take exams…fun. So papers and studying await me, but then it’s back to Aspen and I can’t wait!!!

Winter is Coming!!!!!!

This past weekend I headed up to Stowe to try and get in a few turns. However I was quite disappointed when I got to the base. There was a lot less snow than I had expected. The snow looked to start about half way up the mountain and looking up I wasn't sure if there was even enough to ski on. So I decided to just get in a nice hike, and went up without my gear. Granted I reached the top and was kicking myself realizing I could have gotten in at least few turns. I am making the move out to Aspen next week and am so excited, Aspen and Snowmass will officially be opening on Thanksgiving Day. Turkey and skiing, what more could you ask for?

Back in the States

How good of a time did I have down in Argentina? Can anyone spring for a plane ticket for me to head back right now...please? I had an epic summer, no make that second winter. However, I had to return to Vermont as school starts in a few days. Worst part is, it's puking in Argentina. How many days do I have to wait till I get to ski again? Too many.

Check out these photos taken by Ben Girardi.

Refugio Frey Trip

I headed out on a three day backcountry excursion to the Refugio Frey Hut in Bariloche, Argentina. Led by guides Sklyer Holgate and Travis Eliason, we found some awesome lines to shred, with a whole lot of vert. It was a trip I will never forget. While it was probably one of the most challenging adventures I have ever accomplished to date, it was such a rewarding experience.

Todo Bien

Wow! What an awesome first two weeks it has been down in Bariloche, Argentina. You couldn’t ask for better snow conditions, lending to lots and lots of great turns. Everything about these last two weeks just makes me that more stoked on skiing. I’ve been getting face shots, dropping cliffs, and slashing powder through the trees. The best part is just when you think each new day can’t live up to the last, it beats all expectations. I’ve been skiing with some really amazing skiers including James Heim and Michelle Parker, who both absolutely kill it.

Beautiful Day at Cerro Catedral

As I ascended into Laguna my eyes grew wide as I saw the fresh blanket of snow in front of me. I quickly took my skis off my pack, clicked in and traversed across the slope, scoping out my line. I knew exactly the line I wanted to ski, as I visualized it in my head. A few fresh powder turns into a cliff drop. The second I dropped in a smile spread across my face, which is often evoked by powder. I milked those powder turns for all they were worth, loving every second of it. I then descended to the cliff, pointed my skis and went for it. Stomping the landing the smile that was on my face turned into an uncontrollable grin from ear to ear. It is those little moments that make me love skiing more than most people think possible, and of course I can just never get enough.
